Hairdryer and make-up first to be ditched on holiday

It seems holidaying over 50s are more concerned with having fresh breath and clean pants than maintaining a perfect appearance.

The results are revealed in a poll conducted by Staysure.co.uk, a leading over 50s insurance provider, which showed that while nearly 60 per cent would forego their hair dryer, only 2 per cent could do without a toothbrush. Equally, around a quarter would leave their make-up behind whereas only 5 per cent would go commando.

Olivia Skeen, marketing manager at Staysure.co.uk, commented: “Throwing caution to the wind for the experienced holidaymaker clearly doesn’t extend to leaving behind their smalls. As weight restrictions increase and more and more people are travelling with carry-on baggage, people are being forced to choose between essentials when packing for their holiday.”

Staysure.co.uk – which was established five years ago and offers a range of insurance products – has one of the UK’s most comprehensive travel policies that cover many minor pre-existing medical conditions free of charge. Staysure.co.uk’s easy to complete medical screening programme offers protection for holidaymakers with illnesses including diabetes, heart problems and cancer.

Staysure.co.uk’s policies start from as little as £16 for a couple going on a 7-day single trip within Europe, or £36.05 for worldwide travel including the USA. The cover, provides travel cover for those aged up to 85 on single policies, 80 for annual multi-trip and 76 for long-stay is a lower cost alternative to the current major providers.

If you had to forego one essential item what would it be?
