Over-50s go unheard by political parties

More than two-fifths of the over-50s feel that none of the three main political parties could care less about them according to research from insurance provider Staysure.co.uk.

The Conservatives were seen by nearly a third as the party that best represents the older population – twice as many as felt Labour looked after them and three times as many as those who considered the Liberal Democrats their champion.

The research, conducted by the over 50s insurance specialist is a warning bell for the three main parties as they jostle to attract the all-important grey vote.

Olivia Skeen, marketing manager at Staysure.co.uk, commented: “With such a tight election ahead of us it’s a damning indictment of the three main political parties. It’s vital that all three focus on people over 50 with dedicated policies to support them – not least as they are more likely to vote than the younger generation.”
