Checked baggage fees 'major holiday nuisance'
Travellers have overwhelmingly said that checked baggage fees are the one part of going on holiday they would really like to see disappear in a new survey.
Checked bag fees have increased during the past few years, with strict rules being implemented on the size and weight of hold luggage, and penalty charges of up to £20 per kilo for passengers carrying excess weight.
Travellers surveyed by WhichBudget were asked "what part of the flying process (outside of the fare itself) would you like to see fee-free" and 65 per cent responded that they would like to see checked bag fees disappear.
Credit and debit card charges came in second with 42 per cent of votes, while booking/admin fees received 37 per cent.
Furthermore, date and name changes also proved a niggle, with 24 per cent saying these costs should fly away, while choosing seats/priority boarding received the same percentage, and in-flight food and drinks attracted just 21 per cent of the vote.
