From the moment you step aboard one of Holland America's mid-sized ships you will recognise the Holland America Line difference. As part of Holland America's Signature of Excellence programme, ongoing enhancements are being made to public rooms and staterooms across the fleet. Several ships now feature MIX, the new bar concept with three speciality lounges serving their namesakes: Martini, Champagne and Spirits and Ales. Also passengers can enjoy the Showroom at Sea - the new glamorous nightclub with performances featuring Broadway entertainers. A new resort called The Retreat, complete with upscale pizzeria and giant LED screen for viewing movies and Canaletto, a complimentary Italian restaurant that comes to life at night with gourmet Italian specialities.

Stateroom enhancements on board Veendam and Rotterdam now also include the innovative Lanai staterooms which feature doors that open directly onto the walk-around lower promenade, whilst spa staterooms located near the Greenhouse spa offer exclusive amenities such as an organic cotton bathrobe and slippers, yoga mat, water fountain and special room service menus and treatments. Additionally all staterooms feature the Mariner Dream Bed with premium plush Euro-top mattress and high-quality cotton bed liners, flat-screen TVs and bathroom enhancements including deluxe bathrobes.

Dining onboard a Holland America ship is a truly delightful affair and their popular ‘As you Wish(R)' style of dining lets you choose the venue that suits you. The luxurious main dining room serves five-course menus offering classic, regionally inspired cuisine and vegetarian options. The Pinnacle Grill is an intimate dining experience serving Sterling Silver Beef(R) and fresh seafood. Fresh cooked-to-order specialities are served at breakfast and lunch in The Lido Restaurant, whilst specialities fresh from the grill can be found at The Terrace Grill on deck. For those looking for a light refreshment or snack a visit to Explorations Cafe will not disappoint.

As well as visiting a wide number of destinations around the world, Holland America prides itself on the range of activities available onboard. The Culinary Arts Centre programme, presented by Food & Wine magazine, offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fine wine and cuisine of the ports of call you visit and try your hand at making local dishes. The Digital Workshop powered by Windows(R) teaches you how to make the most of your digital photos and how to share them with others. The Greenhouse Spa and Salon offers you the opportunity to relax and replenish with a wide range of exclusive treatments on offer, and for those feeling slightly more energetic there are a wide range of sports activities onboard including aerobic, yoga and Pilates classes, walk-a-mile track, basketball, tennis and volleyball.

Fully equipped fitness centers and sports courts are also situated on all ships. Night time entertainment includes: Dancing in the Ocean Bar, watching a movie or trying your luck in the casino.
