The Scottish capital is famed for its celebrations.
This year’s yuletide offerings are bigger and better than ever with a wonderful season of entertainment and events to accompany the many stalls of local and homemade gifts.
The market itself is held in East Princes Street Gardens, but be sure to head over to the Johnnie Walker Bothy Bar on the Mound for a warming festive tipple or hop on the Star Flyer ride for a great view of the city.

Since its debut in 1999, Manchester’s Christmas market scene has undergone something of a snowball effect. It’s grown from a single site at St Ann’s Square to nine markets now stretching their way right across the city.
Check out the glistening Ice Village in Cathedral Gardens, or gather your friends and hire your very own ‘carol-oke’ hütte’ at the Spinningfields site.

London has many Christmas markets on offer, but Southbank’s riverside Wintertime Market is one of our favourites.
Take a stroll along the Thames while browsing the goods on offer, stopping off for something to eat and drink in one of the many winter-themed popup bars and restaurants.
It is particularly good for edible gifts from around the globe, not to mention the excellent programme of festive shows and entertainment. Oh, and there’s even a Finnish sauna on the Queen Elizabeth Roof Terrace!
