Why do I need life insurance?

A life insurance policy is designed to offer a financial lifeline to those who matter most to you and ease the strain when you’re not around to take care of them. Whether the funds are used for funeral expenses, to pay off the mortgage or simply to maintain their current standard of living, life insurance can make sure your loved ones don’t struggle to make ends meet in the event of your death.

Some people put off buying life insurance as they fear that insurers won’t pay out when needed but that’s simply not true. In 2013 Aviva paid out 99.3% of claims with LV paying 98%, the same applies across the whole market.

A 50 year old can get £100,000 worth of cover for as little as £10 per month. Despite this outstanding value for money on cover, more than 50% of adults in the UK do not have life insurance, leaving their dependents financially vulnerable if something were to happen to them.

What is critical illness cover?

Critical illness insurance is designed to pay out a lump sum of money on the diagnosis of a critical illness. This includes cancers, strokes, heart attacks and debilitating conditions such as multiple sclerosis. It can be added to a life insurance policy or taken out separately. Most policies today will cover over 40 illnesses and will also make partial payments for less severe illnesses allowing you to put funds towards medical care without worrying about your finances.

What is income protection?

Income Protection pays out a regular tax-free replacement income if you are made redundant or unable to work because of ill health or an accident; it enables you to pay the mortgage, as well as the daily costs of living.

You can choose how much of your salary you want to cover and how long you want the policy to be in place for.
