Foreign tourists visiting Greece will still be able to withdraw cash despite the worsening bank crisis in Athens.

British holidaymakers visiting Greece will not be affected by new rules limiting cash withdrawals across the country. Greek residents are currently only allowed to withdraw up to 60 euros a day at

ATMs, which is causing long queues at cash machines.
The move comes as Greece looks to stem the flow of cash out of its banks by closing them and the stock market all week. Staysure’s underwriter ERV have agreed to increase the cash cover limit on Single Trip policies to Greece from £200 to £400.

This means customers can now withdraw larger amounts of cash to avoid having to queue repeatedly and that they will be covered by any accidental loss or theft up to the value of £400 per insured person.
