Can I cover my holiday with travel insurance during the coronavirus outbreak?

Even though many countries have confirmed cases of the coronavirus, you may still be able to buy and be covered by travel insurance for your holiday.

We believe that travel insurance is worth doing right. So where we can help you to have peace of mind on holiday, we will.

You should be able to buy a valid travel insurance policy to cover your holiday if government bodies (Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and local authorities) haven’t advised against travel to your destination.

It’s always best to buy your travel insurance as soon as you can.

Please note, although you will not be covered to claim for the cancellation of your trip because of the coronavirus for any new policy bought after 13 March 2020, we’re helping our customers who have had to change their holiday dates by rearranging cover dates for single trip policies if needed.

Should I declare my pre-existing medical conditions on my travel insurance?

You can declare your medical conditions through our online medical screening process, which is a straightforward set of questions for us to understand how your medical condition affects you. Or, if you prefer, you can complete the medical screening over the phone.

It’s important that all pre-existing conditions are declared on your medical travel insurance.

This will avoid large medical bills if you need treatment in another country. Failure to disclose any pre-existing medical conditions may affect the validity of your policy should you need to claim.
