Why choose worldwide travel insurance?
When it comes to your global holiday plans, it’s worth making sure that you’re properly covered.
Even if you’re over 65 and have pre-existing medical conditions, you can still have peace of mind with our worldwide travel insurance.
Whether you’re jumping from country-to-country on a backpacking holiday, cruising the world in luxury, or have an exciting year of trips to look forward to, we can help.
Choose our Single Trip Travel Insurance if you’re looking to cover a one-off worldwide holiday. Depending on your age and where you’re travelling to, you may find that we can cover your trip for up to 18 months!
If you’ve got a few shorter trips that are spread over a year, then our Annual Travel Insurance may be a better fit. If you’re 85 or under, you can travel as often as you like as long you aren’t away from home for more than half the year.
Both our single and annual options are available with either a Basic or Comprehensive level of cover.
Worldwide travel insurance with pre-existing conditions
We’re specialists in insuring people with pre-existing medical conditions. So whether you have diabetes, high blood pressure or any other condition that you’ve had symptoms, appointments or investigations for in the past two years, we’ll ask you to tell us about them.
There’s no medical exams, just an easy questionnaire either online or on the phone.
Telling us about your conditions helps us to tailor your policy to your needs and helps to make sure you’re properly covered.
What does our travel insurance cover?
Where can I travel to with worldwide travel insurance?
If you need to insure just the one trip – even if it has multiple destinations – then you’ll need tell us when you’re going, when you’re coming back and all of the countries that you’re planning on visiting.
We’ll do the rest and work out the level of cover you’ll need. It couldn’t be simpler.
With our Annual Travel Insurance, you can choose from one of four regions to cover all of the places you want to visit:
- Region 1: Europe excluding Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Turkey and Tunisia.
- Region 2: Europe including Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Turkey and Tunisia.
- Region 3: Worldwide excluding Bermuda, Canada, the islands of the Caribbean, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Thailand, and the United States of America
- Region 4: All countries of the world.
Is there anywhere in the world I can’t be insured to travel to?
You can travel almost anywhere in the world that you’d want to travel to and still be covered with any of our travel insurance policies.
The only places we cannot insure you to travel to, are those where it’s potentially unsafe for you to be. These include places with a high risk of terrorism, civil unrest and places that have recently experienced natural disasters.
Check out the Foreign Travel Advice from the Government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) if you’re unsure.
Please be aware that we do not provide cover to those countries or parts of countries where the FCO or World Health Organisation have advised against all but essential travel before you book your travel insurance.
Cover for worldwide disasters and terrorism
If the FCO issue guidance before you travel due to a recent natural disaster, then all our travel insurance policies will cover you to be able to cancel your trip. After all, travelling to active volcanic eruptions may sound fun, but it may not be the relaxing holiday you’re looking for.
But if the FCO change their recommendation for any other reason, then you’ll need to have our optional travel disruption add on to your policy to be covered – which is available as an upgrade on all travel insurance policies.
There are unfortunately occasions where you may want to cancel your holiday because there’s been a recent terrorist act near to where you’re going. Where the FCO doesn’t issue guidance, you may still be covered for cancelling your holiday if you’ve taken out our optional terrorism cancellation cover.
What happens if something goes wrong on my worldwide travels?
When you’re halfway around the world and something goes wrong, it can feel daunting.
We’re not just here to pay a bill when your baggage is delayed, but to help you when you need us most – when you have a medical emergency.
If you need medical assistance, you can call our 24 hour medical emergency helpline any time of day. They can help find your nearest medical facility to get you the best treatment.
You can even call our medical emergency number with reverse charges so you won’t be charged for your call.
Our multilingual team can also help to translate when needed to make sure everybody’s speaking the same language when you’re getting treatment. This free service can help make a stressful situation a little more comforting.
If your medical bill comes to more than £350, we’ll also try where we can to pay the agreed bill directly to the medical facility.
If you have a serious medical emergency where you need to be transported home with help after treatment, we’ll be there for you. We’ll send a medical
professional out to you to be by your side for the entire journey. They will make sure you’re as comfortable and safe as you can be for the journey.
When it comes to things like claiming for lost possessions or emergency dental care, once your claim has been agreed, we also pay 98% of claims within five working days**.
