New research into the trends of ‘romance in later life’ has revealed that more than two thirds of over-50s believe in ‘playing the field’ and dating more than one person at one time – while two in five think it’s fine to jump into bed on a first date.
Keeping your options open in later life could be a result of past hurt, as a quarter admit that they’ve cheated on a partner, whilst some vow they would never forgive someone for being unfaithful. One in ten has confessed that they have in fact forgiven a partner for straying.
The research conducted by insurance and travel specialist Staysure shows when it comes to the dating scene, over-50s still look to find love offline – with some revealing that they’ve made a romantic connection whilst attending a funeral.
Both men and women agree that being open to new things is the most important quality in a romantic partner. Men also prioritise ‘good looks’ at the top of their list – compared to women who rank practical skills such as ‘the ability to fix things’ and ‘interest in food and cooking’ among the top qualities they require from their other half.
Participants were also asked which over 60 celebrities they found the most attractive.

|2||Pierce Brosnan||Raquel Welch|
|3||Rod Stewart||Olivia Newton-John|
|4||Tom Selleck||Jane Seymour|
