A Champagne Experience at The View From The Shard

Lucy Braga and family celebrating mother's day

In the run up to Mother’s Day we asked if you knew any mums who needed spoiling – and the answer was a resounding “yes”!

For our latest competition we had a fantastic champagne experience for two to give away at the top of the tallest building in western Europe – The View From The Shard. The iconic structure boasts dreamy views across London and on a clear day you can see up to 40 miles away; meaning you can spot buildings such as the Gherkin, the Olympic Stadium and the O2 Arena.

To enter we asked you to nominate a mum you know and tell us why they deserve to win on our Facebook page. We were bowled over by the scores of heart-warming answers we received and it was difficult to pick an overall winner. But we found one…

Our winning entry

We picked Lucy Braga after she posted this lovely message on our wall about her mum Angela, who is a former teacher from Southampton.

Lucy, an opera singer who also lives in Southampton, said: “My lovely Mum deserves a treat! She is a wonderful Mum and Granny to 6 grandchildren! She is always there for her family and always puts others before herself! Happy Mother’s Day to all at Staysure and all those lovely mums out there!

“Ps my mum inspired me to get fit! I took up yoga with her when I was 18 and have been doing it ever since! Here is a pic of us running the Race for Life together in memory of her mum, my beloved Nana.”

After we contacted Lucy to tell her they had won the prize she added: “Thank you so much to everyone at Staysure. We are really excited about going to the Shard as we both love champagne and have never been VIPs before!”

And here are some more of our lovely entries…

We loved the post from Michelle Morgan, who said her mum was an “inspiration to us all.”

She said: “She single-handedly looks after her 94-year-old parents in their own home, one is deaf & one is virtually blind. She is extremely selfless and really deserves some me time! At 68 herself she’s one in a million!”

Meanwhile Dawn Thomas described her mum as “marvellous.”

She explained: “She is my DIY fixer, party trickster, injury healer, and chocolate stealer, taxi driver and fabulous cook, gives me honest opinions on how I look, offers advice but never interferes.”

Another entry that pulled at our heartstrings was by Jane Minchin, who nominated her mum Betty.

She told Staysure: “She has been having a difficult time recently with losing my Dad and serious health issues and she could do with a pick me up special treat like this fabulous prize. She is always there for other people and family and tries her best to hide her sadness and concerns. I am her daughter and know her inside out and what’s really going on with her. She always loves having days out and I know she would be super excited about going to the Shard and having some bubbly.”

Thanks to everyone who entered. Don’t forget to keep an eye on our Facebook page for our monthly competitions, as you could be next month’s winner!
