Three senior executives from Northampton-based travel insurer Staysure have just completed a gruelling cycle ride of over 400 miles across Italy for the Virgin STRIVE Challenge 2016 to support the charitable trust Big Change.

Cycling alongside Richard Branson, Chairman Ryan Howsam, CEO Chris Rolland and Chief Finance Director Julian Kearney swapped the boardroom for the saddle as they covered a challenging route across Italy over five days covering 692km (430 miles) and climbing over 31,000ft – an elevation higher than Everest!

The Staysure team raised over £20,000 for the charity.

Branson took on the Challenge as part of his bucket list, and a host of fellow ‘Strivers’ who aim to raise £1.5 million for the trust. Big Change invests in ideas and initiatives to drive positive change for young people.

The team took part in the final stage of the Strive cycling challenge, setting off from Salerno on 20th September and arriving in Villa San Giovanni five days later. They shared updates on the Staysure blog.

On taking part, Staysure’s CEO Chris Rolland said “Every day we are privileged to hear stories from our customers – many of whom have medical conditions, who embark on fantastic travel adventures of fitness and endurance in the second halves of their lives. We’ve been inspired by our adventurous customers who challenge people’s expectations and push boundaries when they don’t let difficulties hold them back from their bucket list.”

“I couldn’t be prouder of our team as we’ve finished what has been physically one of the toughest challenge we’ve ever faced. It’s been a truly great adventure, our support from back home and on the ride has been exceptional and I can’t thank our fellow Strivers enough for their energy, support and company over the five days.”
