Still can’t wait for spring to kick in? March weather in the UK can be decidedly chilly so your mind might well be wandering to warmer climes. But why not actually wander there in person? You’ll come back relaxed and refreshed, with one of those winter sun tans that everyone will envy!

We’ve gathered together five of our favourite winter destinations to warm you up this March.

Gran Canaria, Spain

Grand Canaria
(Average March temperature: 18.6°C)

The third largest island in the Canaries’ archipelago offers an incredible variety of terrain and things to do. If you like beautiful, unspoiled peaks and hidden villages, head for the rugged mountains inland which, along with the verdant north, are ideal for hikers and adventure seekers. If you prefer the beach, you’ll love kicking back and relaxing at the island’s very well-developed coastal resorts. For epic, desert-style landscapes, head south. The capital city of Las Palmas offers an enchanting historic and cosmopolitan vibe all of its own – don’t miss it!

Florida, USA

(Average March temperature: 20°C)

From the vast subtropical wilderness of the Everglades to the incredible man-made wonder that is Orlando’s Disney World, the “Sunshine State” is definitely a must in March. There’s also an incredible selection of dreamlike beaches for you to enjoy: South Beach Miami with its picture-postcard beauty, smart promenades, tanned bodies and art deco architecture; the Caribbean-style blue waters and stunning sands of the Florida Keys; as well as the breathtakingly beautiful stretches awaiting you along the Gulf Coast. Florida leaves you spoilt for choice!

 Adelaide, Australia

(Average March temperature: 20°C)

South Australia’s Adelaide is another one of those destinations that has it all. Modern and trendy, it offers a good mix of sophisticated dining and nightlife, chic shopping and a buzzing free-spirited art scene. Dubbed the “Festival City”, Adelaide abounds with inspiring theatre, dance and world music you won’t want to miss.

Adelaide Hills
Once you’ve done the city, take a trip eastwards to Adelaide Hills complete with their myriad of hiking trails and waterfalls, or take a trip to the world-famous wineries to the city’s north and south.

Langkawi, Malaysia

(Average March temperature: 29°C)

Malaysia’s archipelago of Langkawi is ideal for paradisiacal sandy beaches, jungle exploring and bargain shopping – all in one holiday. The two inhabited islands, Palau Langkawi and Palau Tuba, are not over-developed yet offer a good spread of seafood restaurants, spas and beach bars for relaxation.

When you’re ready for a little action, there’s ample opportunity to wander through traditional villages and take in the absolutely stunning waterfalls, forest parks and hot springs in glorious sunshine – gone will be those memories of dull skies and drizzle back home!

Dubai, UAE

(Average March temperature: 24.8°C)

Lavish Dubai is generally thought of as the United Arab Emirates’ most glamorous and modern city.
