Why do I need travel insurance to cover my medical conditions?
When you have pre-existing medical conditions, it’s really important to make sure you declare them on your insurance so that you’re covered properly.
If your conditions aren’t declared on your insurance you may not be able to make a claim.

We offer two types of insurance policy to suit your travel plans:
One off trips:
Our Single Trip Travel Insurance is great for one-off trips. With no upper age limit, you can take the whole family and stay for up to 104 days at a time.
Buying a year-long policy saves you from the inconvenience of reapplying for cover for every trip. Having an annual plan also means that you can also travel as often as you like as long as you don’t spend more than 6 months (183 days) away during your policy cover.

What to consider when tailoring your over 65s travel insurance
When you’re planning a holiday, the chances are that you’ll have a list of things you’re looking for.
Whether that’s a sunny beach in the Costa del Sol, a cruise or even a USA roadtrip, each holiday is different. With so many different types of holiday, it’s important to make sure that your plans are tailored as much as your holiday is.
That’s why we allow you to tailor your insurance policy to suit your travel plans.
Start by picking either a Basic or Comprehensive level of cover which can then be boosted to increase options to match your plans.
It’s worth considering how much you spent on your holiday per person.
It’s then a good idea to make sure your cancellation cover fully covers the cost per person.
The same can be said for your personal belongings. If you’re taking an iPad, your phone and best clothes it’s worth making sure that the cost of these being lost or stolen can be fully covered with your personal baggage cover.
If you are going on a cruise, then you may also choose to upgrade your comprehensive cover for cruises. This extra level of cover includes cruise-specific eventualities like missed ports.
Whatever plans you have for your holiday, it’s easy to tailor your policy where needed to make sure you’re covered.
What information will I need to have to hand to get my quote?
As we specialise in travel insurance for people with pre-existing medical conditions, if any member of your party has a condition then we’ll need to ask you a few questions about their health and medical history.
As well as the basic information about you or any person who you’re setting up the policy for, it’s a good idea to have the following information to hand when starting your quote process:
- Names of all medical conditions you/they have had in the past five years, or currently have. Even if you think it’s only minor, or doesn’t matter. This includes anything that you don’t take medication for.
- If and when you have ever had any of the following (even if it was longer than 5 years ago)
- Cardiovascular or circulatory condition, e.g. heart condition
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Blood clots
- Raised cholesterol
- The name and doses of any medication you take.

Can my travel start from outside the UK?
For our normal policies, your travel must always start from the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.
If you live outside of the UK, then take a look at our special Expat insurance policy, where travel must always commence from your home country.
How can I make changes to my policy?
You can make any changes before your departure – subject to the terms and conditions set within the policy.
Whether that change is updating us with your medical conditions, to adding optional extras after you’ve pre-booked your round of golf, if we can help, we will.
What we aren’t able to do is reduce coverage in return for a partial refund so please do check that you’re happy with the level of cover.
