Choose the right level of cover for you

These are just a few of the things our policy covers. For the ins and the outs, take a look at our policy wording.

What does travel insurance cover?

We offer three levels of travel insurance – Basic, Comprehensive, and Signature – to match different travel needs.

This list gives an idea of what’s included in our Basic package, but it’s important to read through your policy wording before you set off on your trip. It’ll help you to understand what you’re covered for, and what you’re not.

You can discover more in our guide to what travel insurance covers too.

Staysure policies usually include cover for:

✔ Pre-existing medical conditions – most declared conditions are covered, meaning we could help with medical costs like doctor visits or hospital stays related to your condition while you’re abroad.

✔ Baggage – protects your belongings against loss, theft, or damage.

✔ Cancellation and curtailment – financial protection for unexpected events like illness or injury.

✔ Repatriation – we could cover the cost of bringing you back home if medically necessary.

Travel delay – if you’re delayed for more than 12 hours, we could compensate you.

✔ Money and passport – cover for lost or stolen cash or travel documents while you’re away.

What's not covered?

Holiday insurance is here to help if something unexpected goes wrong. But that doesn’t always mean everything is covered.

If you’re unsure about your policy, take a moment to review the details or reach out to our friendly team. Whether you want to check what’s included or have questions about your cover, we’re here to help.

Your Staysure policy won’t cover these types of claims:

✘ Incidents involving alcohol or drugs – if an incident happens while you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs, we won’t be able to pay out on your claim.

✘ Choosing not to travel – we don’t cover trip cancellations if you simply change your mind or decide not to go.

✘ Undeclared pre-existing conditions – any medical conditions you don’t tell us about when setting up your policy won’t be covered if they cause issues during your trip.

✘ Strike action known at the time of booking – if a strike is already announced when you book your trip, we can’t cover any disruption caused by it.

✘ Travel for medical procedures – trips planned specifically to receive medical treatment (like surgery or specialist care abroad) aren’t covered.

Travelling with a medical condition?

Finding travel insurance that covers pre-existing medical conditions can be tricky. Not every insurer will cover you. That’s why it’s so important to choose a provider that understands your needs.

We’re proud to say that 97% of our customers are able to cover their pre-existing medical conditions with us. Whether it’s asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, or joint problems, we’ll make sure your medical needs are taken into account when putting together your quote.

How much is travel insurance?

How much your travel insurance policy will cost depends on your personal situation. While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, knowing what factors are used to calculate your premium can make it easier to choose the right cover for your trip. So, what can affect the cost?

  • Where you’re going

Travelling to places like the USA often means higher premiums because medical care there can be expensive.

  • How long your trip is

The longer your trip, the more likely you are to need to claim. Your premium might increase to reflect this.

  • Your age

Older travellers, for example, might pay more because they’re at a higher risk of needing medical assistance.

  • Your medical history

If you have a pre-existing condition, declaring it when taking out a policy is essential. It might affect the cost, but it guarantees you’re properly covered.

  • Optional add-ons

Choosing a policy with lower excess, higher limits, or additional cover like cancellation, gadget protection, or sports activities may cost more.

Good travel insurance isn’t just about ticking a box—it’s about peace of mind. What our expert says…
“While it’s tempting to pick the cheapest travel insurance available, it’s important to remember that a bare-bones policy might not give you the protection you truly need. Whether it’s a medical emergency, a cancelled flight, or lost baggage, knowing you’re covered means you can travel stress-free. ”

How to get travel insurance?

Getting travel insurance with us is simple. Start your quote online using our easy-to-use system or call us if you’d prefer to speak to a friendly team member.

1. Tell us about your trip

We’ll need some basic details to get started, such as:

  • Whether you need cover for one trip or multiple trips.
  • Who is the insurance for.
  • Where you’re going and how long you’ll be away.

2. Share your details

Let us know about anything that might affect your cover. This could include:

  • Any pre-existing medical conditions
  • Whether you’re awaiting diagnosis or surgery

Our online system includes handy tips to guide you through the process of getting a quote if you’re unsure about anything. For more complicated situations like if you’re on a waiting list for surgery, you might be prompted to get in touch with us by phone so we can make sure your cover is just right.

3. Get your quote

Once we have your details, we’ll provide a tailored quote online and email it to you for convenience.

When should I buy travel insurance?

Most people find that the best time to buy travel insurance is as soon as you book your trip. With a single trip policy, your cover begins straight away, protecting you against cancellation if unexpected events mean you have to cancel before you even set off. If you choose an annual multi-trip policy, you can delay your cover start date for up to 90 days from purchase.

Remember, we don’t offer travel insurance after departure, so it’s important to arrange cover before you travel.

How long can I get travel insurance for?

Whether you’re planning a quick getaway or an extended adventure, your travel insurance can be tailored to fit your plans. The length of your cover depends on the type of policy you choose:

  • Single Trip Insurance – covers you for one trip, starting from the day you buy your policy, and ending when you return home. You can enjoy up to 104 days of travel on a single trip.

  • Annual Multi-Trip Insurance protects you for multiple trips within a 12-month period, with up to 50 days of cover per trip and an optional 100-day upgrade if you are 70 and under, eligible for one trip only. Cancellation cover begins on your policy’s start date, which can be delayed up to 90 days from purchase.

Trip durations may vary depending on your age and your trip destination. Find out how long you can travel for in our guide.
