Be fully covered with our group travel insurance
If you’re planning a holiday with friends, or a family trip away, it might be easier to get your travel insurance under the same policy.
We understand that travelling with multiple people can mean more organising and hassle, but with a group policy we make it that bit easier. You’ll get the same quality insurance as a single policy, all while making sure everyone is covered properly. Easy.
We define a group as up to 30 people who are travelling together who may live at different addresses.
If you’re booking travel insurance for your family – which include any grown-up children over the age of 18, then you would need to book a group policy.
A family policy on the other hand, should only be booked for people booking a policy where there are 2 adults and children under the age of 18 travelling who live at the same address.
To book your group policy online, select the ‘other’ option when prompted about who you need the cover for. You can cover up to 9 people at a time online, or up to 30 when you call us.
For groups of 10 or more, call our team today on 0800 033 4902.
Do I need travel insurance when travelling as a group?
You might think you’re less likely to have problems when travelling as a group. But is it really worth risking?
Although there’s more people to look out for one another, there’s also more people at risk. Having proper cover when travelling as a group is important and can give you peace of mind that help is there if the worst happens.
Not being properly insured could mean paying unnecessary fees if you suffer travel delays, lost luggage or a medical emergency.
Having a group policy would make sure that if a travelling companion’s pre-existing medical condition causes a cancellation of your trip, you would be covered too.
In 2017, 1 in 20 people claimed on their travel insurance.* So needing to make a claim is more common than you might have thought.
What does our travel insurance cover?
Can I be covered for activities when travelling as a group?
We cover a number of activities as standard with all our policies including badminton, catamaran sailing and hiking but we can also offer optional additional cover for winter sports and golf.
Our group policy can cater for winter sports, for those aged 70 and under. With our Winter Sports add-on, when you choose a comprehensive policy, you’ll be covered when participating in winter activities from skiing to ice-skating. Check the Winter Sports page for more information on the activities that we cover.
If you’re planning to make use of any golf facilities when travelling as a group, we offer a golf cover add-on when you choose a comprehensive policy.
For more information on our golf policy, refer to the Golf Travel Insurance page.
I am going on a cruise as a group, do I need to specify this?
Yes. You can cover your cruise by choosing the optional Cruise Plus add-on. This is only available on the Comprehensive policy.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Who can we offer cover to?
To make sure we can cover each person travelling, you must make sure everyone can say yes to the following:
✔ I am medically fit to travel
✔ I haven’t received any terminal diagnosis
✔ I am not travelling to receive medical treatment.
If you say no to any of the above, we will unfortunately not be able to cover you.
If this is the case, we would suggest contacting the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) to help find you appropriate cover.
