Can I still get travel insurance?

Even if your destination is listed as unsafe to travel to, you can buy your Single Trip Travel Insurance now, ready for when you can travel. That way, there’s one less thing to think about when you’re given the go-ahead and can get excited for your next trip.

Your travel insurance doesn’t just start when you set off on holiday – you’re protected as soon as you buy your policy. Cancellation cover gives you instant protection from unforeseen events like having a medical emergency that means you can’t go on holiday. It’s always important to match the cost of your holiday per person to your cancellation cover for the best fit.

We know that holidays may feel different at the moment, but your travel insurance is there to restore your travel confidence. With travel insurance that covers coronavirus, you can return to your favourite places with peace of mind. COVID-19 cover is included with all new policies at no extra cost. So, if you catch COVID-19 at home or while you’re abroad, you can be covered for cancellation and emergency medical expenses.

Isn’t it worth doing right?

Know before you go

With travel advice changing so quickly, it’s important you keep up-to-date with travel advice.

Before you travel, you’ll need to know:

  • UK Government (the FCDO) say it’s safe to travel to your destination. It’s important you check your destination is safe to visit regularly as advice can change. If the FCDO has advised against all but essential travel to your destination in Europe and you need travel insurance against FCDO advice then you can add European FCO Travel Advice Extension to your policy.
  • Your destination’s local government advice, safety guidelines and entry requirements.

We want you to have a safe and relaxing holiday. If you travel against government advice and don’t have the European FCO Travel Advice Extension, you won’t be covered if you need to claim. Even if advice changes while you’re on holiday, you won’t be covered if your destination was listed as unsafe when you travelled.

Should I declare my pre-existing medical conditions on my Single Trip Travel Insurance?

You can declare your medical conditions through our online medical screening process, which is a straightforward set of questions for us to understand how your medical condition affects you. Or, if you prefer, you can complete the medical screening over the phone.

It’s important that all pre-existing conditions are declared on your medical travel insurance.

This will avoid large medical bills if you need treatment in another country. Failure to disclose any pre-existing medical conditions may affect the validity of your policy should you need to claim.

Policies that suit your needs

  • No upper age limit
  • Cover for pre-existing medical conditions
  • Optional extras available
  • Over 80 sports and activities included
  • Simple online quote process

100 Day Upgrade
Available on Comprehensive Annual policies only
If you’re 70 and under, you can extend your 50 day trip duration limit to 100 days for one trip.
European FCO Travel Advice Extension
This add-on allows you to have a valid travel insurance policy to Europe, if the FCO have advised against all but essential travel to your destination. If the FCO advise against all travel while you’re there, you’ll also have £1,000 benefit to help you get home. While you’re abroad, you won’t be covered for claims related to COVID-19 or anything related to the reason the FCO changed their advice.
Connecting Flight Cover
If you're taking more than one connecting flight to reach your destination or home, it's important you have our optional Connecting Flight add-on. This then extends your cover for connecting flights if cancelled or delayed.
Cruise Plus Cover
Available on Comprehensive policies only
Off on a cruise holiday? This covers things like not being able to dock at a scheduled port due to bad weather, and cabin confinement.
Excess Waiver
Available on Comprehensive policies only

Gadget Cover
Available on Comprehensive policies only
This cover is available for an unlimited number of gadgets for up to £1,000 for things like: accidental loss or theft, accidental or malicious damage, liquid damage, unauthorised call, text or data usage.
Golf Cover
Available on Comprehensive policies only
Cover your golf equipment, emergency equipment hire, non-refundable golfing fees and hole-in-one cover. Available when playing non-professionally only.
Single Item Cover
Available on Comprehensive policies only
This option increases your single item, Personal Baggage cover beyond the standard £400, up to £1,000. To do this you’ll need to describe the item you’re covering and Single Item cover can’t be added retrospectively.
Terrorism Cancellation Cover
Available on Comprehensive policies only
Be covered for choosing to cancel your holiday if there has been a terrorist act in the past 42 days within 40 miles of where you’re going on holiday. FCO do not have to advise against travel in order to make a claim.
Winter Sports
Available on Comprehensive policies only
This add-on can help if you have a medical emergency while taking part in winter sports activities. It can also help reclaim expenses when you lose or damage your ski equipment as well as cover the costs of unused ski passes, piste closures and avalanches. Winter sports cover is already included as standard when you choose a Comprehensive Annual policy for up to 21 days cover.
"Having to cancel my annual holiday 8 days before travelling last year, due to an injury, was frustrating but Staysure helped me reclaim most of the expense on my basic insurance. This year I have upped the premium with the help of an advisor - all the options detailed, so I have been able to choose what is right for me."
"Have used Staysure for a number of years. 2 yrs ago had to cancel our holiday because my husband needed an urgent operation. Staysure sorted our claim with no fuss or hassle and quickly."
"I was unexpectedly diagnosed with an illness that was thankfully cured by surgery. I travel a lot and was unsure how this would affect travel insurance. I phoned Staysure and was given clear and helpful information, asked quite detailed health questions and was finally given a very competitive quote for an annual policy with the option to pay monthly. Very efficient service, great company to deal with."
