What is Single Trip Travel Insurance?

Single Trip policies cover one specific trip or holiday.

You can visit multiple places while you’re away, go on cruises and get the same comprehensive level cover as our annual holiday insurance policies.

The only difference is, when you take out a policy for an individual trip, your policy will end when your holiday does.

Did you know that if you’re going on holiday more than once a year, getting an Annual Multi-Trip policy could save you money?

Who can be covered?

With no upper age limit on Single Trip Travel Insurance policies, you could insure the whole family with us.

It’s also sometimes cheaper to book together as families and couples living at the same address get an automatic discount applied. So it’s better to book together than to buy individual policies.

Making sure your whole family is covered with your policy also helps to protect you if a family member falls ill. With individual policies, you may not be covered for having to cancel due to their medical emergency.

It’s worth thinking about. When it comes to insurance, it’s worth doing right and making sure you and your family are covered properly.

Are medical conditions considered for travel insurance?

We consider all pre-existing medical conditions for cover.

Your conditions can be added through our quick and easy online medical screening or through our UK Contact Centres which are open seven days a week.

If you have any pre-existing conditions, it’s important that they are declared on your policy. If something changes with your conditions before your policy starts, you also need to let us know.

This will make sure you are properly covered and help you to avoid large medical bills if you need treatment in another country.

Whether you have high blood pressure, insomnia, diabetes, cancer, heart conditions, or anything else, it’s best to let us know.

How long can I travel for?

For individual trips, you can get travel up to 104 days on our standard policies.

Planning a longer holiday? Take a look at our long stay cover to see how long you can be covered.

How far in advance of my holiday can I buy my policy?

You can buy a policy from us up to 13 months before you travel.

It’s worth booking your policy early to make sure you’re covered for cancellation – as leaving things till the last minute may mean that you’re not covered.

But if you have left insurance till the last minute, then don’t worry. We can email across any policy documents to you after you buy, which means that you’re covered as soon as you purchase your policy!

With all of our policies, you’ll have a 14 day cooling off period during which you can cancel the policy with no quibbles.

Which destinations can I get covered for?

You’re covered for 99% travel destinations with our policies.

The only countries or areas we cannot provide cover to visit are where either the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) or the World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised against travel at the time of purchase.

If you bought your policy before the FCO/WHO advice was issued, you will be covered.

You can check the FCO advice for your destination here, and the WHO updates here.

Tailor your policy to suit your needs

Not all holidays are created equal, so whether you’re hopping over to Paris for a weekend, or planning an epic worldwide tour, you’ll want to tailor your policy to cover you properly.

Before you take out a policy, it’s worth thinking about the areas that you might need to upgrade your level of cover.

You can choose to boost your policy in a number of areas for your policy including:

Upgrading your cancellation cover:

Our basic policy will cover you up to £500 as standard, but this can be boosted to £3,000.

Comprehensive policies can be upgraded from £5,000 to £15,000 subject to further underwriting criteria.

Adding travel disruption extension:

This extra cover provides peace of mind if you want to cancel or cut your holiday short on the advice of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office or World Health Organisation.

It also covers additional overseas accommodation and repatriation in the event of terrorist events and natural disasters that affect your accomodation or resort.

With our comprehensive level cover, you have even more choice:

Add an excess waiver: to not pay the £65 excess on comprehensive policies if you have to claim.

Add car hire excess waiver: Covers the cost of the excess in the event you make a claim for your Car Hire Agreement and includes keys, misfuelling, roadside and towing and emergency accommodation.

Add gadget cover: covers gadgets while on holiday up to £1,000.

Add golf travel insurance: cover for equipment, green fees and ‘hole in ones’.

Add cruise travel insurance: cover for cruise related claims such as missed port departures and cabin confinement.
