Combat freezing winter weather with energy boosting exercise

Snow bird house - Combat freezing temperatures by staying active

With the UK going through another cold snap it is more important than ever to keep energy levels high, which can be done through simple exercises and eating correctly.

Holland & Barrett's nutritionist Kate Butler explained that B vitamins are crucial when it comes to energy metabolism and reducing tiredness and fatigue.

Speaking to Female First, she noted that eating the correct foods is also important to prevent the effects of the cold weather.

"Balancing blood sugar levels is key to supporting sustained energy. Eating frequently and combining protein with complex carbohydrate slows down the breakdown of carbohydrates," she explained.

Justin Way, personal trainer from Pure Gym, told the website that people do not need to spend large sums of money to exercise as there are things they can do in everyday life to give themselves an energy boost and stay fit.

He said that raising and lowering your heels while doing the washing up is a good leg and calf toner while allowing people to burn a few extra calories.
