Departure Tax for Jamaica increased by 75%

Departure tax for air passengers leaving Jamaica has been increased from 20USD (approximately £13.90) to 35USD (approximately £24.20).

The Jamaican Tourist Board confirmed to the local British Consulate that the new rate was implemented on 1st June 2016.

Arrival and departure taxes may be included in the ticket price depending on when the tickets were purchased and the airline so people flying to Jamaica are advised to check their tickets to see if the tax payment is included.

The tax can be paid at the Jamaican airport before checking-in for departure.

Jamaica currently has the highest taxes and fees on airline tickets when compared to other islands in the region.
