Travel Insurance for Gout | Staysure™

Do I need to declare gout as a pre-existing condition?

Gout is seen as a pre-existing condition for travel insurance even if you only get it occasionally. This means it’s important for you to declare it when you’re getting your cover sorted. By declaring your pre-existing conditions, including gout or pseudogout, you can go away with peace of mind.

We like to do things the right way, helping people to tailor a policy that suits their individual needs. Maybe that’s one of the reasons we were voted the nation’s Most Trusted Travel Insurance Provider for 2018.*

How do I declare gout on my travel insurance?

When getting a quote from us, we’ll ask you about your medical history so your policy is tailored to you personally. We’ll ask you to complete our medical screening process which is a set of questions designed to find out how your conditions affect you.

It’s important that during the medical screening your answers are accurate and honest. If you don’t declare all details of your medical situation, this will affect the validity of your policy if you need to claim later down the line.

So, if you have any other conditions such as high blood pressure, kidney problems or diabetes, it’s important to cover them.

We suggest you have details of your medical history to hand when completing the medical screening, just so you’re confident that your answers are accurate. That way, you can be reassured you’re properly covered and can go on your holiday with peace of mind.

We see good travel insurance as the making of a happy holiday, don’t you?

I use a mobility scooter. If I’m using it abroad and I have an accident, will I be covered?

You will be medically covered if you have an accident when using your mobility scooter if you have fully covered your pre-existing medical conditions.

But we can’t provide Personal Liability (for injury to a third party or damage to property) cover if an accident occurs when using a mobility scooter.

Please note: we are not able to cover the mobility scooter itself if it is lost or damaged.

Can I make changes to my policy after booking?

If something changes before you go on holiday, you’ll need to let us know.

Whether that change is updating us with your medical conditions, a change to your medication, or deciding you want to add an optional add-on to your policy. If we can help, then we will.
Unfortunately we aren’t able to reduce your level of coverage in return for a partial refund, so do check you’re happy with your cover when you initially book.
